EAI: Overview

Most of the large enterprises have a network of homegrown applications, packaged solutions and legacy systems that need to interact with each other to share data, files and functionalities. Traditionally, most of the integration solutions were proprietary in terms of programming languages or APIs used and were very invasive in nature. To address this, initially middleware tools like IBM MQSeries were used to help share data across disparate systems. However, as businesses grew, there was a need to provide integration solutions that could address not only sharing data across disparate systems, but also integrate processes.
